Catoctin Mountain, 75″ x 96″, artificial grass, thread
This piece recreates the topography map of a quadrant in Northern Virginia where a rural mountain range is quickly being overtaken by car-dependent housing development. The artist’s home and studio are within this quadrant. Each layer of artificial grass represents a 50 foot contour interval. The contours of artificial grass are sewn onto each other to create elevation.
